Upcoming rock group Echobliss
returns to Maggie's Friday,
12/16 following their historical
opening for the Odyssey Reunion
last month. Echobliss features
some of the most authentic,
high-intensity rock vocals
around along with impressive
tour-ready rock originals.

And last on the bill Saturday
was ECHO BLISS. Another 80's
influenced act but they took it
a step further. On first sight
they sounded sort of like the
Cult with David Coverdale on
vocals but they didn't stop
there. They added some modern
rock overtones (whammy pedal,
etc.) and I couldn't put my
finger on it. Then they did a
cover of Audioslave's SHOW ME
HOW TO LIVE and it all made
sense. This is just my opinion
but I thought they did
Audioslave better than
Audioslave. Maybe its because I
was 25 feet away from them and
they nailed every nuance with
maximum heart and guts but after
that they had me. And the singer
(sorry, I don't know names yet)
had the most soulful, bluesy
metal voice. Afterwards women
were saying it gave them chills.
The guitar tone was to die for
(chunky Les Paul goodness) and
they even pulled out a harmonica
for a blues-y number, calling to
mind things that Sabbath,
Zeppelin and Aerosmith used to
do. Classic and worth ten times
the price.

"I loved it, I like a band that
lets their singer sing, because
ultimately isn't that what this
business comes down to, finding
someone that can really belt out
a tune because that means ticket
sales and sold out concerts."
Mike Rand - Paradise Records who
signed Kid Rock and The Urge.
